What is project HEXA?

project HEXA is a three-dimensional rhythm game inspired by different arcade rhythm games I play.

You board a spacecraft bound for an unknown dimension. Along the way, there are foreign objects which will get in your way, so you must eliminate them in the beat of your song by pressing the correct button that align with the object's path to maintain your spacecraft's stability and energy.

Background and Development

As stated earlier, project HEXA is inspired by the rhythm games I play at arcade centres such as SOUND VOLTEX (Konami Amusement, 2012 to present). It was supposed to be how I imagine playing GROOVE COASTER (TAiTO, 2013 to present) in a first-person view, then shifted to a game with "note objects" coming from the centre of the screen towards the edges.

As project HEXA was my project for my module named "C# Programming and 3D Game Development", I spent about one month to finish the game. It took me two weeks of programming, three days of art creation, one week of creating user interface, and five nights of making my own song.
